the green thumb was almost brown...

wow, it has been forever since i posted in my little garden diary. the rental property required a lot of work on the weeds, overgrown grape vines & sandy soil before I could attempt anything. some pots were planted initially just to get things going. so what have i achieved so far?
  • compost bin
  • improved the soil quality of a garden bed & fertilised in order for me to actually grow something
  • hacked into the grape vines, lemon & orange..fertilised & gave them water...they now have new shoots all over & even buds.
  • planted lettuce, parsley, silverbeet, rocket & brocolli in pots.
  • the lettuce is now a sufficient height & been planted into the garden, along with the brocolli, some punnets of cherry tomatoes, snow peas & basil.
  • potatoes in every little bit of space left over. the've got their heads up & i've covered them with straw.
  • the asparagus in the wine barrel hasn't popped up yet
  • the artichokes in the large pot we brought over is suffering a bit under the snail onslaught

until all this gets going, we're currently buying our organic produce from Freshline Organics who deliver to your door. the next main aim is to get some baby chicks, so they'll be at laying age by the time we move into our new house. thats the plan.
